Growing Deep - Strategic Formation in your School

A program for school leadership teams to use the Growing Deep Catholic Identity and Mission Strategic Planning Suite to analyse, understand, strategise and lead the enhancement of Catholic Identity and effective formation in their schools.

The program will begin in August 2025 and run until March 2026. Using The Provocations Guide and The School Reflection Guide, leaders will identify Catholic Identity and Mission (CIM) goals for their 2026 annual plan and will use The System Support Guide to consider the practical pathways for ‘growing deep’ in the areas the school has identified.

The program is open to all schools and will involve evaluation of your 2025 Annual Improvement Plan and analysis of your school data in the Catholic Identity domain (including Living, Learning, Leading surveys, Pulse Check In data, ReLAT, RE Report results, recent ECSI Report if applicable).

This professional learning community (PLC) is a shared strategic and formational experience for school leadership teams to attend together. It is strongly recommended that at least two members of your leadership team attend all sessions, with one being the APRIM. Members of the PLC will consider their own individual spiritual growth (My story), their strategic work in enhancing the Catholic Identity of your school (Our Story), and connecting to God’s mission that all people know themselves to be known and loved by God (The Story).

    Workshop Overview

The Learning English: Achievement and Proficiency (LEAP) Levels tool supports teachers to formatively assess EALD students’ English proficiency using written and oral language samples from across the curriculum.

Aligned with the Australian Curriculum Literacy Progressions, the LEAP Levels help teachers identify what learners can do, determine next steps for learning, and monitor progress over time.

Teachers conducting EALD assessments for CESA funding allocations must complete relevant professional learning in using the LEAP Levels.

Participants who have previously attended LEAP workshops are welcome to join as a refresher.

    Workshop Focus (2 Consecutive Days)
    Participants will:

    • Understand the structure and key elements of LEAP Levels 6–12
    • Explore how language patterns create meaning in texts
    • Identify key language features in student writing
    • Confidently assign LEAP Levels and set language learning goals

Preparatory work for Day 1 will be provided in advance.

How parents search for schools is changing.  Come along and learn how to make sure your school shows up.

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping how people find and evaluate information, and school discovery is no exception. This workshop will be led by Matt Williamson from Digital Marketing Adelaide, who brings deep expertise in AI and how it’s influencing decision-making in our key audiences - particularly the Gen Y families we primarily target in our school marketing.

Parents aren’t just searching on Google anymore. Tools like ChatGPT and Gemini are now shaping how families explore school options and make enrolment decisions. This workshop explains how Artificial Intelligence (AI) Optimisation helps your school appear in AI search results, what information AI looks for and the simple steps you can take to increase visibility and enquiries.

        Cost:  $80 per person

        Overview

This half-day workshop, offered in Term 1 and repeated in Term 2, introduces primary teachers to the newly revised Composing Written Texts R-6 resource, designed to support explicit and effective writing instruction across the Australian Curriculum. The session will unpack the resource’s model texts, and practical strategies within a scaffolding teaching–learning cycle, equipping teachers to confidently teach a range of text types and develop students’ writing proficiency.

        Workshop Focus

        • Understanding the structure and intent of the resource: Explore Composing Written Texts R-6 (Ed 3), which aligns with Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 and the LEAP Levels framework. Learn how the resource supports the explicit teaching of writing across the year, with model texts mapped to curriculum content and linguistic development.
        • The Teaching–Learning Cycle: Experience the five-stage cycle (setting the context, supported reading and viewing, knowledge about how texts work, supported writing, and independent writing) and how it scaffolds students for success.
        • Practical Strategies: Engage with classroom-ready strategies for teaching the language features of different text types. Learn how to use annotated model texts and collaborative activities to build students’ knowledge and confidence.

          Workshop Overview

The Learning English: Achievement and Proficiency (LEAP) Levels tool supports teachers to formatively assess EALD students’ English proficiency using written (and oral) language samples from across the curriculum.

Aligned with the Australian Curriculum Literacy Progressions, the LEAP Levels help teachers identify what learners can do, determine next steps for learning, and monitor progress over time.

Additionally, teachers conducting EALD assessments for CESA funding allocations must have completed relevant professional learning in using the LEAP Levels.

Participants who have previously attended LEAP workshops are welcome to join as a refresher.

          Workshop Focus (2 Days)
          Participants will:

          • Understand the structure and key elements of LEAP Levels 6–12
          • Explore how language patterns create meaning in texts
          • Identify key language features in student writing
          • Confidently assign LEAP Levels and set language learning goals

Preparatory work for Day 1 will be provided in advance.

Leading Wellbeing: The Science and the Sacred for Middle Leaders in Catholic Education with Courtney Quigley

This session offers a rich and reflective exploration of wellbeing through the lens of Catholic education. Led by Wellbeing Consultant Courtney Quigley, it invites middle leaders to consider their pivotal role in cultivating a thriving, faith-filled school culture.

          About the Workshop

What does it truly mean to be well? Wellbeing is not a fixed state; it is individual, multifaceted, and fluid. As middle leaders, we hold a vital role in shaping the wellbeing culture of our schools. When staff thrive, students flourish.

In this session, we unpack what wellbeing really is—for ourselves, our teams, and our students and explore how to build a thriving, faith-filled school community. Through the GRACE Wellbeing Framework, we bridge the science and the sacred of wellbeing, translating evidence-based research and Catholic values into practical, everyday strategies that nurture growth, gratitude, and grace.

Together, we’ll explore how to create a flourishing ecosystem, living laboratories of wellbeing, where every member of the community feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow.

          About the Presenter

Courtney Quigley is a Wellbeing Consultant and experienced educator with over 25 years of classroom experience. She has held numerous teaching and leadership roles, consistently championing the central role of wellbeing in education.

Courtney is a passionate advocate for deepening educators’ understanding of their own wellbeing, the research that underpins it, and the transformative power of strong relationships and wellbeing frameworks. She believes that student wellbeing is the foundation for success—both in the classroom and beyond.

              Workshop Overview

The Learning English: Achievement and Proficiency (LEAP) Levels is the tool teachers use to formatively assess the Standard Australian English (SAE) proficiency of EALD learners. Aligned with the Australian Curriculum Literacy Progressions, it supports assessment of oral and written language across all curriculum areas. The LEAP Levels help teachers identify what learners know, what they need to learn next, and to monitor their progress.

Additionally, schools submitting EALD data for CESA funding must ensure that teachers conducting these assessments have completed relevant professional learning in using the LEAP Levels.

This one-day workshop will focus on:

              • building knowledge about the language/grammar of the LEAP Levels 1-6 language [oral and early writing],
              • applying this knowledge through guided, collaborative and independent use of the LEAP Levels to assess samples of language and identify learning goals and
              • oral language and early/emergent writing.

Preparatory work for Day 1 will be provided in advance.
