Special Education Professional Learning Session on Intellectual Disability

COURSE INFORMATION

Term 1, 2014, Thursday 27 March 2014, from 9.00am to 12.00pm in Room 8 of the Catholic Education Conference Centre

CORE FOCI AND PRIORITIES

• What is intellectual disability?
• How is an intellectual disability assessed?
• The impact on learning and teaching strategies to support students with an intellectual disability
• Social/emotional wellbeing and behaviour.

AITSL AUSTRALIAN PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS INCLUDE

• Standard 1: Know students and how they learn (1.2, 1.5)
• Standard 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning (3.3)
• Standard 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments (4.1, 4.3)

INTENDED FOR

Teachers and education support officers supporting students with an intellectual disability.

PROGRAM OUTLINE

Duration of 3 hours.
