~ PLAY AND EDUCATION ~

EXPLORING PLAY IN EARLY YEARS AND JUNIOR PRIMARY EDUCATION

• What does play look like?
• What do children do when they play?
• Is all play learning?
• What is the relationship between play and education?
• What is the teachers' role in providing opportunities for play?
• What are our curriculum responsibilities?

These are a few of the questions that will be explored at this CESA Early Childhood Network meeting.

These questions have emerged from previous network meetings.  Time will be given to the exploration of theories about play and to discussion about the relationship between play and learning in our schools. 

Participants are encouraged to bring school statements about play and definitions or quotes that have been useful.

CESA Early Childhood Network meetings provide opportunities for early childhood education and care educators, junior primary teachers, principals and Catholic Education consultants to:

• Engage in professional learning on topics of interest
• Further explore the principles of the Reggio Emilia Education Approach
• Inform the development of policies and directions
• Provide a forum for questions and sharing of best practice and
• Network with interested early childhood professionals

AITSL National Professional Standards for Teachers include:

 3.2, 3.6, 3.7,  4.1, 4.4, 6.3, 7.4
