Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Focus Teacher Program 2014 Day 2:  Leading Change: Being Transformative

COURSE INFORMATION

Term 2, 2014, Friday 6 June 2014, from 9.00am to 4.00pm (Registration at 8.45am).
Held at the Catholic Education Conference Centre (Rooms 7&8)  116 George Street, THEBARTON SA 5031

PRESENTERS AND CORE FOCI
Associate Professor Peter Gale will:

• Build on his thought-provoking and engaging presentation from Day 1
• Explore the many ways in which we can be transformative leaders in our schools
• Address questions such as 'How can "substantive reconciliation" become the norm at our school?'

Special Guest Johathan Lindsay-Tjapaltjarri Hermawan will lead us through an investigation of what it means to be a 'Cultural Custodian'.  As a Critical Friend, Jonathan will help us to critically reflect upon the knowledge we encounter and extend our learning, building our capacity for cultural intelligence in the 21st Century.

Developing a Culturally Responsive School - Guest speakers from one of our schools will share the exciting work being done in the area of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education at their site.

AITSL AUSTRALIAN PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS INCLUDE

• Standard 1: Know students and how they learn
• Standard 6: Engage in professional learning
• Standard 7: Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community

INTENDED FOR

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Focus Teachers and school leaders with responsibility for ATSI education.

PROGRAM OUTLINE

A full day session. Duration of 7 hours. 

Closing date for registration is Friday 21 May 2014.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided. Please advise of any dietary requirements (GF, Vegetarian, Lactose Free).

TRT may be available upon request.
