The Effective Teaching of Mathematics Course has been designed to assist teachers to enrich the teaching and learning of mathematics in order to achieve positive learning outcomes for their children. Participants will explore mathematical content and concepts in number and algebra, and deepen their knowledge of how children develop understanding in this sub-strand of mathematics. They will use this knowledge to plan learning experiences to engage all of their students and deepen and challenge their thinking.
The use of ICTs (specifically Notebook software) will be explored for the teaching of number and algebra.

This course targets teachers of Years 2-5 and addresses the following focus areas of the AITSL Australian Professional Standards
This course consists of three workshops – all of which need to be attended – in Term 2, including term break.

Registration will close on Tuesday 27 May 2014. We would encourage teachers to attend in small groups as research shows that when more than one teacher participates opportunities for collaboration result in increased benefits for the school.
