The Early Years Numeracy Observation Assessment resource (book and accompanying DVD) is now published and schools have found this tool useful in providing information on students' learning.

Catholic Education SA therefore invites expressions of interest from teachers and school leaders who wish to participate in a one day workshop on the “Early Years Numeracy Observation Assessment”.  It is anticipated that the teachers and school leaders who attend this workshop will lead other teachers in their schools using a “Train the Trainer” model.

The workshop will address:

  • the importance of early number understanding
  • the different components of the Early Years Numeracy Observation  Assessment, for example: counting strategies, word problems etc.
  • how to carry out the observation assessment
  • how this assessment is used to collect, analyse and interpret students’ data to inform learning in numeracy

At the end of the workshop participants will have access to the professional learning power point which they could then use to lead others’ learning at their school.

Please note that this workshop is a repeat of what was offered last year.

Registration closes on Tuesday 27 May 2014.

If country schools wish to access this professional learning in their region, please contact Christelle Plummer.
