PROFESSIONAL LEARNING IN NUMERACY
USING PROBLEM SOLVING TO TEACH MATHEMATICS IN YEARS 2 & 3
This course targets teachers of years 2 and 3 and key numeracy teachers. It has been designed to further develop effective teaching strategies in mathematics in order to achieve positive learning outcomes for all children. Participants will explore mathematical content and concepts in the Australian Curriculum Mathematics Strand, Number and Algebra, and deepen their knowledge of how children develop understanding in these areas. They will use this knowledge to plan learning experiences based on a problem solving pedagogy - using tasks to engage all of their students and deepen and challenge their thinking. Registration will close on Wednesday 3 September 2014.
Whilst we welcome individuals attending from a school we would also encourage teachers to attend in pairs or small groups as when more than one teacher participates opportunities for collaboration result in increased benefits for the school.
