COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Secondary Numeracy Network aims to provide middle and senior teachers with:

  • relevant and up to date information relating to the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics, SACE and other contemporary initiatives
  • engage in discussion and networking related to current developments in mathematics and numeracy
  • build expertise in leading the implementation of new initiatives

COURSE INFORMATION

The agenda for this network will include:

  • discussion on reporting using the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics
  • the general capability of ICT
  • using ICT to augment the teaching and learning of mathematics

AITSL AUSTRALIAN PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS INCLUDE

  • Focus area 1.2 – Understand how students learn
  • Focus area 2.3 – Curriculum assessment and reporting
  • Focus area 2.6 – Information and communication technology (ICT)
  • Focus area 3.4 – Select and use resources
  • Focus area 5.5 – Report on student achievement
  • Focus area 7.4 – Engage with professional teaching networks and broader communities

INTENDED FOR

Middle and secondary mathemtics teachers; leaders in mathematics and/or numeracy; curriculum leaders

This network is a 3 hour session to be held on Tuesday 5 November 2013 at 9.00 am - 12 noon
