TThe Effective Teaching of Mathematics Course has been designed to assist teachers to enrich the teaching and learning of mathematics in order to achieve positive learning outcomes for their children.

This course targets teachers of Years 2 and 3 and addresses aspects of Standard 2 and Standard 3 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, specifically Standard 2 - Know the content and how to teach it, and Standard 3 - Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning.

The goals of this professional learning are to explore:

- the Number and Algebra strand of the Australian Curriculum Mathematics, focussing on building the concepts of numeration and the operations

- teaching and learning through inquiry and problem solving

- managing the learning environment for the effective teaching and learning of mathematics

This Professional Learning will take place over 3 workshops and teachers will need to attend each one.  The workshops will be held in the CEO Conference Centre during Term 2 (including week one of the term break)

- Wednesday 29th may, 1pm - 4.30pm

- Wednesday 26th June, 1pm - 4.30pm

- Tuesday 9th July, 1pm - 4.30pm

Registration will close Wednesday 22nd May.  We would encourage teachers to attend in small groups as research shows that when more than one teacher participates, opportunities for shared reflection and collaboration result in increased benefits for the school.
