PRE-REQUISITE FOR THIS SESSION:

Participants registering for this session must have completed Day 1: Aboriginal Cultural Sensitivity and Respect Training during the Term 1 Aboriginal Education Focus Teachers Network Day on Wednesday 25 February 2026.

FOCUS OF PROFESSIONAL NETWORK MEETING:

  • Welcome, Acknowledgement, Prayer, and Introduction and Outline of the Day.
  • Haydyn Bromley from Bookabee Australia will present the Day 2 session on 'Working with Aboriginal People, Families, and Communities Training for Education'. This session follows on from the Day 1 session in Term 1. The session will run from 9.00am-4.00pm with a break for morning tea and lunch.

Bookabee Cultural Awareness Training creates a greater understanding between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal groups. It contains practical tips to assist organisations create a work friendly environment for Aboriginal people, assist all staff in approaching and contacting Aboriginal people, and promotes collaborative culturally sensitive and respectful workplace practices. The training aims to create a deeper understanding and works towards engaging Aboriginal people in the workplace and communities.

Aboriginal Education Focus Teachers.

  • Geoff Aufderheide, Senior Education Advisor: Aboriginal EducationCatholic Education SA.

AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers include:

  • Standard 1: Know students and how they learn (focus area 1.4)
  • Standard 2: Know the content and how to teach it (focus area 2.4)
  • Standard 6: Engage in professional learning (focus area 6.2)

REQUIREMENT:

  • Morning Tea and lunch will be provided. Please advise if you have dietary requirements when registering for the Network Day.
