FOCUS OF PROFESSIONAL NETWORK MEETING:

  • Welcome, Acknowledgement, Prayer and Introductions
  • Haydyn Bromley from Bookabee Australia will present an abridged, shortened session on titled 'Aboriginal Cultural Sensitivity and Respect Training'. The session will run from 9.00am-1.00pm with a break for morning tea.
  • Engaging with the Catholic Education SA Aboriginal Education Action Plan and advice on the School Community Engagement Grants and Program Initiatives for 2026. This session will run from 1.30pm-3.00pm. 

Bookabee Cultural Awareness Training creates a greater understanding between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal groups. It contains practical tips to assist organisations create a work friendly environment for Aboriginal people, assist all staff in approaching and contacting Aboriginal people, and promotes collaborative, culturally sensitive, and respectful workplace practices. The training aims to create a deeper understanding and works towards engaging Aboriginal people in the workplace and communities.

For Noting:
Attending this course is a pre-requisite for attending the professional learning course in Term 2, 'Working with Aboriginal People, Families, and Communities'.

Aboriginal Education Focus Teachers.

  • Geoff Aufderheide, Senior Education Advisor: Aboriginal Education, Catholic Education SA.

AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers include:

  • Standard 1: Know students and how they learn (focus area 1.4)
  • Standard 2: Know the content and how to teach it (focus area 2.4)
  • Standard 6: Engage in professional learning (focus area 6.2)

REQUIREMENT:

  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own device.

Morning Tea and lunch will be provided. Please advise if you have dietary requirements when registering for the Network Day.
