Description

Career education in the primary and middle school years benefits all learners because it enhances motivation for learning and self-efficacy by building a strong sense of purpose and hope in students.

Intentional career education broadens career aspirations by encouraging children and young people to explore who they are, who they could become, and be aware of possibilities in the world around them that they may not have otherwise noticed.

Quality teacher-led, career education for primary and middles school students is at the heart of the CESA Pathways and Transition Strategy. CESA Pathways and Transition Strategy - Empowering Students to Thrive

CESA partners with BECOME Education to support Catholic schools to teach career education to students from Years 5-9 using an evidence based career education program. The BECOME career education program provides a comprehensive range of teacher resources linked to the Australian Curriculum v9 with so that all teachers can tailor a short program to meet student needs, personalised student access to an interactive platform and a school dashboard.

This professional learning session will provide attendees with the knowledge and confidence to teach career education to students in 2026. The workshop for Teachers and Lead Career Education Ambassadors includes:

  • Familiarisation with BECOME Education web application for students
  • Gathering pre and post program data from students
  • Getting started with teaching career education, with engaging ideas and strategies to maintain momentum
