Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Art in the Classroom Workshop

(Week 2, Term 4)

from 9.00am - 3.30pm

 Venue: Art Gallery of South Australia,
North Terrace, Adelaide

FOCUS OF PROFESSIONAL NETWORK MEETING:

• A Gallery Tour with Curator of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art (starts at 9.00am)
• Strategies based session with the Art Gallery of South Australia's Education Manager
• Artist talk and workshop (Artist to be announced), and
• Materials.

The workshop will provide educators with insight into the way relationships between people, culture and country for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples can be conveyed through works of art. Educators will learn best-practice methods and practical tips on ways to meaningfully integrate First Nations art, cultures and histories into daily learning environments based around the national curriculum. INTENDED FOR:

Aboriginal Education Focus Teachers. If the Aboriginal Education Focus Teacher is unable to attend, the school is encouraged to send another staff member to this professional learning opportunity.

AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers include:

• Standard 1: Know students and how they learn (focus area 1.4)
• Standard 2: Know the content and how to teach it (focus area 2.4)
• Standard 6: Engage in professional learning (focus area 6.2).

Morning Tea and lunch will be provided. Please advise if you have dietary requirements when registering for the Network Day.
