Language and Literacy Levels: Familiarisation Day

This one day workshop is suitable for teachers who have prior training and experience in using the SACSA ESL Scope  Scales and a knowledge of functional grammar.

The workshop is suitable for primary and secondary teachers.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for:

• Guided exploration of the new Levels document
• Comparison of the main differences and similarities between the Scales and the Levels
• Using the Levels to assess written language

The main focus of this workshop will be on the organisation and use of the Levels; there will be no explicit teaching of the metalanguage. For those who need to learn about the language within the Levels, please register for the 2 day workshop: Assessment for Learning using the Language and Literacy Levels.

Teachers are asked to bring several student writing samples to assess during this workshop.

Workshop Dates:
     Term 1: Wednesday 10th April 2013  (this workshop will be repeated in Term 2 - Wednesday 15th May 2013)

Cost: no workshop fee

Catering: morning tea and lunch are provided
