Description

This course is designed to immerse participants in the field of career development, under the expert guidance of a senior researcher, university lecturer and practitioner. It develops career counselling skills to shape career conversations with students. 

Catholic Education South Australia is committed to supporting the development of professional skills and qualifications in career counselling and career education.

The CCCA course is for:

  • teachers in Catholic schools wanting to gain career development skills to support students’ exploration of careers and enhance subject selection counselling services in schools and
  • new and existing career practitioners, VET Coordinators and Industry Engagement Officers who want to be inspired by the latest evidence and best practice.

Flexible Hybrid Online Delivery

Complete the course by combining live online interactive seminars with Professor Jim Bright, plus self-paced learning on BECOME's online learning platform.

Participants will have four months to complete the course. The learning platform allows you to download most of the content so you can build your own library. You interact with a course workbook which you receive on completion.

Next intake: Start October 2024 and complete by the end of January 2025.

Hours: 20 hours total, of which 3 hours are live online interactive sessions.

Location: Online

The optional extra assessment at the end of the hybrid live online course can lead to recognition of prior learning with RMIT (see Acc.)

Course Fee for South Australian Catholic School Educators

Educators working in Catholic schools in South Australia are eligible to receive a subsidy on the usual cost of the CCCA course. When registering directly with BECOME, name your school and include the code (CESA) immediately following your schools’ name.

Australian Professional Standards for Career Development Practitioners

This course covers key content areas identified in the Australian Professional Standards for Career Development Practitioners and covers all the ‘core competencies’:

  • Career development theory
  • Labour market information
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ethical practice
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Technology, information and resources
  • Professional practice application

This course can be accredited towards the Graduate Certificate in Career Education and Development at RMIT. Please refer to the CESA Transition and Pathways Hub, for more information about RPL towards university study.
