Description
CESA is committed to strengthening the capacity of Catholic schools to provide comprehensive career education and career development to students from the primary years onwards.
Having qualified career development practitioners in schools ensures
that students are better equipped to navigate the complexities of
career decision-making and are prepared to succeed in their future.
To enhance the quality of career development guidance, career counselling and career education provided by Catholic schools, Catholic Education South Australia is collaborating with RMIT to offer a bespoke, accelerated professional career development qualification for Catholic school educators.
RMIT Graduate Certificate in Careers Education & Development: Bespoke CESA Program
To achieve the RMIT Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development, Catholic school educators undertaking the course will need to:
- Complete all 3 Units of the RMIT Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development subsidised by CESA, delivered face-to-face in Adelaide on:
-
- Unit HWSS2243 Block A: 28 & 29 October 2024
- Unit HWSS2242 Block B: 18 &19 November 2024
- Unit HWSS2241 Block C: 20 & 21 February 2025
- Gain Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) for Unit HWSS2240: RPL
Successful completion of the RMIT Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development postgraduate degree, enables graduates to be eligible to seek professional registration with the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) and with CICA member organisations, such as the Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA). Membership of CDAA includes Professional Indemnity Insurance, covering professionally qualified career practitioners and their school.
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) Towards HWSS2240
Upon successful completion of the Career Counselling, Coaching and Assessment Course delivered by Professor Jim Bright (CCCA course) and the agreed assessment tasks, students will be eligible for recognition of prior learning towards the RMIT course Practices in Career Design (HWSS2240). Educators who have not yet completed the CCCA course will have until 1 April 2025 to complete the CCCA course online (at own cost; reduced rate for Catholic school educators) and provide evidence for RPL directly to RMIT to meet qualification requirements.
Fee for South Australian Catholic School Educators
The Catholic Education Office is providing a significant subsidy on the usual RMIT course fees. As a result of the generous subsidy, schools will be charged $1,250 per module for the three modules delivered in Adelaide, leading to a total cost of $3,750 per person. This amount will be invoiced to your school before the end of the year.
Please note:
- It is up to the school principal to decide whether to pass this cost on to the employee. This decision should be mutually agreed upon with the employee before enrolment.
- The course should have connection to the employee’s work with students, or current position as an educator providing careers education, career advice and/ or career development support.
- If the employee withdraws from the course and the position cannot be filled, the full cost will be charged to the school.
- In-person attendance at all six study days listed above in Adelaide, is required to pass the course.
- CESA is unable to subsidise other delivery modes of the RMIT Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development.
