Description

Resume writing is an art and a science.

Traditional formats of resumes found in Resume Builders or online examples of resume writing, do not provide secondary school students with a good way of highlighting their skills and capabilities, especially if they are trying to find their first job.

The purpose of a resume is to get to the next stage - a job interview. Some resumes are better at doing this than others – so what are the secrets for school students? What type of resume is more likely to get them to the interview stage?

Join this live workshop to develop greater insight as to how you as a Teacher, Career Advisor, VET Coordinator, Industry Engagement Officer or Work Experience Coordinator, can support secondary school students to write their own resume.

This online workshop has many practical tips for educators, to:

  • demystify the purpose and structure of resumes,
  • develop ways of modelling good resume writing, in a time effective manner,
  • understand the rationale behind Career Objective statements on resumes,
  • plan resume writing sessions for students and
  • teach students to adapt online resume formats, like those on Canva, to strengthen their chances of getting to the interview stage.
