You asked and we listened! The Secondary Religious Leaders Association are hosting their first Liturgy and Music Ministry Focus Day on May 20, from 9am to 4pm. With special guests Gen Bryant and Lauren Brier, participants will be able to partake in a range of learning in the space of music and liturgy, and importantly how we can keep this contemporary and exciting for our students.

What’s even more exciting, EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Bring along your religion and music teachers, leaders, or anyone looking to learn more about the importance of engaging and facilitating liturgy.

Sessions include:

Music Ministry… the why?

• Gen Byrant and Lauren Bierer raise the questions: How do you notice student leaders who are willing to take a role in the liturgical space? What does an invitation look like and why that matters?  Why is accompaniment important?

Music Ministry… the how?

• Student workshop opportunity: Gen Bryant will team up with Music students to offer practical training in music ministry.
• Lauren Bierer will lead a workshop on liturgy parameters & opportunities in the school setting. Brainstorming ways to fit liturgy and prayer into the busy school day and how to introduce new music to the whole school community.

Music ministry… the when / what?

• A workshop on selecting appropriate songs for Mass and knowing where to place them in the liturgy. New music will be introduced for you to hear and take back to your school community.

SHOWCASE!

• A concert to showcase all these ideas streamed together.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITY -

SRELA with the Nazareth Catholic Community would like to invite music and religious students from YOUR SCHOOL to partake in the latter part of our day – a concert hosted by Gen Bryant and her band, or alternatively a focus session where Gen and her team will teach students musical numbers that can be used in your school setting.
