This session is a continuation of the network focussing on supporting teachers, focus numeracy teachers and curriculum leaders in developing numeracy in all curriculum learning areas.

The importance of numeracy as a capability to be effectively developed for all students has been highlighted as an essential part of both the SACE and the Australian Curriculum. Schools are recognising that teachers need to be supported to ensure numeracy opportunities are identified and are developed to support the understanding of the content within the different learning area.

The broad aims for the Numeracy across all Learning Areas for 2012 are to:

  • build the capacity of those involved in the network in terms of their understanding numeracy and the development of effective teaching and learning strategies in various learning areas
  • consider contemporary approaches to leading change within a school community and within numeracy
  • provide a forum to discuss and exchange strategies related to professional learning in numeracy

The session for term 4 will be held on Wednesday 31 October 2012,  1.00 pm - 4.00 pm

Room 7, Conference Centre, 116 George Street, Thebarton

The network on Wednesday 31 October will provide opportunities for those attending to:

  • listen to and share with others their learning journey to date
  • explore how to use the General Capabilities – Numeracy as a catalyst for whole school focus
  • further explore how to build in a  Numeracy in all Learning Areas focus in your school community
  • discuss ideas for ‘where to next for the network?’
  • formulate or continue to work on a Numeracy Action Plan for 2012/2013

Registrations close on Friday 26 October 2012.
