Career education during school encourages students to explore who they are, who they could become, and be aware of possibilities in the world around them that they may not have otherwise noticed.
The BECOME Career Education program is an evidence based career education program, developed by respected career professionals, that provides students agency and develops self-efficacy.
The workshop is divided into a morning and afternoon session:
- Teachers: Morning workshop
- Lead Career Education Ambassadors for each School: Morning & Afternoon Workshops
Both sessions are designed to provide educators with the knowledge and confidence to provide career education to students in 2024.
The morning workshop for Teachers and Lead Career Education Ambassadors includes:
- Exploring how career education fits with your schools’ Mission, Vision and Charism
- Overview of the BECOME Education Teachers resources
- Familiarisation with BECOME Education web application for students
- Integrating career education into
- Gathering pre and post program data from students
- Engaging ideas and strategies for teaching career education
- Tips for using the BECOME web apps to full potential
- How to get started on career education with your students
- Developing student agency by broadening the career aspirations of children and young people
- Deep thinking about careers and job factors, relevant for primary and middle school students
The afternoon workshop is a set-up session for each school and is provided in addition to the morning session, for Lead Career Ambassadors to ensure that their school is ready to commence career education in 2024.
The afternoon set-up session for Lead Career Ambassadors includes:
- Personalised school scope and sequence conversations with BECOME
- IT set-up support
- Planning a Career Information Workshop for Parents
- Integrating career experiences and guest speakers into your school program
- Planning a school showcase event to display students’ career research and career experiments
- Communicating career education learning with your school community.
