Description

For all early years and primary school teachers and Leaders of Learning, this interactive session aims to develop an understanding of what is constitutes a quality weekly Literacy Block.

Participants will:

• Review the elements of a quality weekly Literacy Block

• Discuss approaches of the teaching of phonics in the classroom using the Wiley          Blevins resources

• Explore how the Big 6 of Reading can be utilised within the Literacy Block

• Consider the integration of writing within the Literacy Block

AITSL National Professional Standards for Teachers Include

Standard 1: Know students and how they learn

Standard 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning

Standard 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments
