Description

Professor Jim Bright will deliver the Career Counselling, Coaching & Assessment course, face-to-face in Adelaide, on 10, 11 and 12 October 2023 (attendance at all 3 days is required).

This intensive and highly practical course is designed to immerse participants in the field of career development, under the expert guidance of a senior researcher, university lecturer and practitioner. It provides a hands-on approach to developing and refining career counselling skills to shape career conversations with students. 

Catholic Education South Australia is committed to supporting the development of professional skills and qualifications in career counselling and career education. This commitment will ensure that Career Advisors and Career Development Practitioners in Catholic schools can provide the highest quality career advice and support to students, by being appropriately and professionally qualified. The in-person course in Adelaide in October 2023 is financially subsidised by Catholic Education South Australia.

This course is for:

  • new and existing career practitioners who want to be inspired by the latest evidence and best practice,
  • current teachers in Catholic schools wanting to gain career development skills that can lead to a professional qualification in Career Development and Career Education and
  • existing practitioners keen to develop new skills and refresh their knowledge.

Australian Professional Standards for Career Development Practitioners

This course covers key content areas identified in the Australian Professional Standards for Career Development Practitioners and covers all the ‘core competencies’:

  • Career development theory
  • Labour market information
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ethical practice
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Technology, information and resources
  • Professional practice application

This 3-day course can be accredited towards the Graduate Certificate in Career Education and Development at RMIT. Please refer to the CESA Transition and Pathways Hub, for more information about RPL towards university study.

Course Fee for South Australian Catholic School Educators

Educators pay a subsidised total of $500, prior to course commencement, for attending the face-to-face course in Adelaide. The remainder of the course fee ($2,000 per person) will be subsidised by Catholic Education South Australia.
