This interactive workshop will focus on how an excellent scientific and cultural resource, Jim Bowler’s CD, Lake Mungo: a window to Australia’s past, has been transformed into learning activities aligned to the Australian Curriculum: history, for both primary and secondary students.
Historical and Scientific Inquiry and Aboriginal Ways of Learning pedagogies will be utilised throughout the workshop to ‘unpack’ the framework of the Mungo Explorer materials.
As Project Manager and Project Officer respectively, Gary and Scott will run an interactive session to familiarise participants with the online Aboriginal Cultural Studies resource which has been several years in the making. This resource is intended to help teachers plan and teach Aboriginal Cultural Studies from Reception to Year 10 and is aligned to the Australian Curriculum.
Indigenous people themselves continue to be the most effective resource by far, and can be a powerful presence within a school.
Several Indigenous artists have been invited to attend this workshop to discuss the various ways in which they can complement Indigenous Education programs and perspectives.
