Ready. Set. Future. Year 5 – 9 Career Education Webinar

Online:  3:30 pm - 4:15 pm

Students who explore, experience and think about their futures in work often experience lower levels of unemployment, receive higher wages and are happier in their careers as adults. Beneficial results are found in relation to both students who continue to tertiary education and those who enter the labour market directly from school.                                                                                                 OECD, 2021

Catholic schools in South Australia are offered the opportunity to provide intentional career education for Year 5-9 students in 2023 as part of the CESA Ready. Set. Future. initiative.

A webinar on Thursday 27 October at 3.30pm is for school leaders and teachers wanting to know more about the Ready. Set. Future. Year 5-9 Career Education project:

  • what the data from the Catholic schools involved in the project this year indicates about the career aspirations of Year 5-9 students
  • the structure and toolkit resources that are part of BECOME Education program
  • how the inquiry research project, with a specific research question about one career area, develops student agency and key capabilities
  • the variety of ways in which Catholic schools in SA have integrated this learning in 2022 with students
  • Australian and International research about the benefits for school learning and student self-efficacy, of engaging students in career education during the Primary and Middle School years.

Young people with clear, high and considered job ambitions can be expected to do better in work later on, because they are building the agency needed for their transitions.                   OECD, 2021
