FOCUS OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY:

  • Working with a cross-cultural research-consultancy team comprising of Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers from The University of Adelaide and the Flinders University of South Australia on the development of Catholic Education South Australia's development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy (The Strategy) 
  • Equip participants with ideas for practices
  • Engage participants in discussion concerning their existing strengths, challenges, hand hopes for the future, which will contribute towards the development of The Strategy.

Aboriginal Education Focus Teachers.

FACILITATORS:

  • Dr Samantha Schulz, project lead – first generation Australian of Anglo heritage, Senior Lecturer in Education, The University of Adelaide
  •  Dr Faye Rosas Blanch (co-investigator), Murri woman from the Atherton Tablelands of Yidniji/Mbarbarm descent and Senior Lecturer in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Flinders University of South Australia
  • Dr Joanne Buckskin (co-investigator), tertiary educator of Narrungga, Wirangu Wotjobalok heritage and Lecturer in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Flinders University of South Australia
  • Dr Steve Corrie – non-Indigenous Education Lecturer, Flinders University of South Australia, currently overseas all Secondary Education degree programs


AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers include:

  • Standard 1: Know students and how they learn (focus area 1.4)
  • Standard 2: Know the content and how to teach it (focus area 2.4)
  • Standard 6: Engage in professional learning (focus area 6.2)

REQUIREMENT:

Participants are asked to refer to the attached map for car parking details for the Queen of Angels Church car park. To access the George Street site, please use the controlled crossing at the intersection of George Street and South Road.

Morning coffee/tea and lunch will be provided. Please advise if you have dietary requirements.
