Assessing Language Learning &

Situating Language Assessment Practices
(Modules 8 & 11) 

Teachers wishing to focus on assessment may register for Day 1 only OR Days 1 and 2

In this workshop you will:

• consider the relationship between assessment and learning, focusing on formative assessment
• discuss the asssessment cycle
• consider ways of assessing students' intercultural languages learning
• consider assessment in the context of developing a learning culture
• consider assessment practices in languages education in the context of educational change
• critically analyse current state/territory-based curriculum and assessment frameworks and their implications for assessment in practice
• consider ways of expanding teachers' and students' understanding of assessment for different purposes
• consider assessment in the context of developing learning

• Teaching and Learning Languages: A Guide by Angela Scarino and Anthony J Liddicoat (each school in Australia received a copy of this book in 2010)
