School leaders are invited to participate in two workshops in the area of creating and maintaining safer school environments.

 

The presenter, Dr Monica Applewhite, is an international expert in the prevention of child abuse and monitoring procedures for safe environments.

 

Dr Applewhite’s work  is strongly supported by the Archdiocese of Adelaide and this office. The CEO and Archdiocese are sponsoring Dr Applewhite’s visit and workshops.

 

Day 1: Monday 18 June 2012

Preventing Sexual Abuse by Adults

  • Understanding Relationship-Based Sexual Abuse in Schools
  • Preventing High-Risk Adults from Gaining Access to Schools
  • The Next Generation of Prevention:  Policies, Education, and Monitoring
  • Addressing the Grey Areas:  Violations, Investigations and Decision-Making

Day 2: Tuesday 19 June 2012

Sexual Behaviour Issues in Schools

  • Sexual Development and Behaviour in Young Children
  • Addressing Sexual Behaviour and Sexual Behaviour Problems in Children
  • Sexual Development, Risk Taking and Sexual Behaviour Problems in Teens
  • Educating Children, Teens and Parents to Partner in Safer Schools

Participants may attend one or both days.

There is no cost for attendance. Morning tea and lunch is provided.
