Australian Curriculum: SECONDARY English Orientation Workshop

  • 23 Mar 2012
  • 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Catholic Education Conference Centre

Registration

Registration is closed

This one day workshop is a shortened version of what was offered last year, and is available for teachers and leaders who were unable to attend in 2011.

It is designed for a school to send a team of two (ideally a curriculum leader and a classroom teacher of English) to attend on behalf of the school staff.  Participation in the workshop will provide opportunity to become closely acquainted with the dimensions of English in the Australian Curriculum.  The session will provide processes, information and support so that each team of two would then be enabled to facilitate the same process with their staff at their own school.

Main areas that the session will address:

  • Aims of Australian Curriculum: English
  • Strands and sub-strands of English
  • Getting to know the English Content Descriptions, Elaborations and Achievement Standards within a year level
  • General Capabilities and Cross Curriculum Priorities in English
  • Australian Curriculum website and online resources through Scootle

This workshop will be useful for leaders and key teachers of English to prepare for forthcoming workshops on Achievement Standards which will be offered by the CEO later this year.
