In 2011, the Numeracy Team ran a series of workshops focussing on the implementation of The Australian Curriculum, Mathematics for curriculum leaders, principals and teachers.  These orientation sessions are now available for those leaders who were unable to attend last year.

Participation in the workshop will give participants an opportunity to become better acquainted with the various dimensions of The Australian Curriculum, Mathematics.  The workshop has been designed for two representatives from each school to attend.

This 'team of two' would be made up of a curriculum leader and a classroom teacher of mathematics.  This session will equip these two representatives to support their staff to implement The Australian Curriculum, Mathematics and to facilitate the processes used in the workshop.

The workshop will be held on Monday 23 April 2012 and will focus on the following aspects:

  • The Australian Curriculum, Mathematics strand
  • 21st Century pedagogies and the links to the capabilities and proficiency strands
  • developing a possible framework for classroom planning using the national curriculum
  • exploring the content strands and inter-related mathematical ideas
  • exploring the proficiency strands, general capabilities and cross curricular priorities
  • examining the implications for pedagogies
  • developing strategies for implementation across the school

We are currently collecting expressions of interest only.  Please register if you are interested in attending this session.  When registrations close on 20 March, we will be in contact by email.
