This is an Expression of interest only.  Full details will be sent to applicants in Term 1, 2022.

For 2022, CESA will be providing sponsorship for Leaders of Learning or similar staff to complete ACER’s accredited Data Driven Decisions professional learning program.  This will be coordinated through the office and be available in both in-person and online formats. 

Places are limited to 40 staff. 

Staff members who are not in a Leader of Learning or similar position may still participate in the professional learning provided costs are covered by your school.  Cost without sponsorship will be at a reduced rate of $440.  School are encouraged to send more then one staff member.  

Proposed program structure

Week 1 Participants will work on Modules 1 to 3 in Week 1

Module 1 – Introduction to Data Driven Decisions

Module 2 – Observing learning progress

Module 3 – Choosing the right test

Held at CESA.

Week 2

Module 4 – Analysing and interpreting data for groups

Remaining sessions held online

Week 3

Module 5 – Interpreting learning progress for individuals

Week 4

Module 6 – Starting points for learning Submission of Learning Assurance Task (LAT) 1

Week 5

Module 7 – Differentiation

Week 6

Module 8 – Strategies for differentiation Webinar: Consolidating skills

Week 7

Module 9 – Reflection

Module 10 – Wrapping up, feedback and further study options

Week 8

Completion of LAT 2 Submission of LAT 2


Professional learning will be held in either Term 2 or Term 3, 2022 based on applicant interest.

Intended learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Analyse and critically evaluate a range of PAT data and reports; 
  • Identify teaching strategies that differentiate learning for different students/groups; and
  • Use PAT data to target learning needs of different students and groups. 

AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers

This course focuses on Professional Standard 5: Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning, particularly Professional Standard 5.4. Interpret student data.

Course duration:  12 hours over 8 weeks
