Due to overwhelming demand the SACE and Vocational Education teams will once again facilitate a professional learning and training opportunity for staff of Catholic secondary schools to become SACE Community Learning Assessors.

This professional learning and training is appropriate for:

• SACE Coordinators
• Flexible Learning Coordinators
• Pathways Coordinators
• Indigenous Education Focus Teachers
• Special Education Teachers and
• Vocational Education Coordinators.

Currently SACE students can gain recognition for community learning in two ways: Community-developed Programs or Self-directed Community Learning. The process for students to have their self-directed community learning considered for recognition as part of their SACE involves the student filling in an application form and attending an interview.

At the interview the student provides evidence of his or her learning to a Community Learning assessor(s). The assessment judgements about the evidence are made using the assessment criteria, and the Performance Checklists and Record of Evidence form.

Students who are applying for credits at Stage 1 may be interviewed by a school-based assessor; however, schools may request a SACE Board assessor to undertake the interview. Students applying for Stage 2 units, or combinations of credits at Stage 1 and Stage 2, will be interviewed by both a Board-trained school-based assessor and a SACE Board assessor.
