Workshop Description
This Professional Learning Day offered by CESA explores the Practices and Principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and considers ways in which these align and can be applied in the Reception classroom. We will also unpack ways in which children’s learning can be documented and reported to provide a holistic view of the child. Participants will have the opportunity to critically analyse different documentation and reporting formats for this first year of school.
Provocations using the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) are posed to participants, and opportunities are provided to collaborate with colleagues to work through planning ideas. Participants are invited to consider and articulate the theories which underpin their view of the child, family, and educator. They will also review different learning environments and critique what each may offer young children’s learning and development. Opportunities to work alongside, and build networks with Early Years colleagues, is an important part of the day.
