SACE new 'Spiritualities, Religion and Meaning' subject - CESA Information Session

Tuesday 29 June (Week 10) from 8.45 – 10am

The SACE Board in coming days is expected to approve a new subject to replace Stage 1 and 2 Religion Studies in 2022 (while allowing Religion Studies to still be available for 2022 only).  This will be an orientating session for APRIMs, RECs and key teachers involved in SACE subjects that a platform for Religious Education in Catholic schools. 

The session will be a prelude to both SACE and CESA hosted workshops in Term 3, and information about these will be in the Week 9 RE Communique.

The CESA Information Session will:

• ·         provide broad information about the new subject (expected to be entitled Spiritualities, Religion and Meaning)
• ·         discuss the CESA recommendation and rationale that Stage 2 of the new subject is delayed until 2023 in Catholic schools (except in particular circumstances for Catholic school piloting in 2022)
• ·         explore how this subject not only replaces Religion Studies, but, due to its format, could be an alternative to Integrated Learning as a platform for RE
• ·         discuss how, in Catholic schools, the new subject aligns with the content of the redesigned Crossways at years 11 and 12
• ·         present information about the Term 3 workshops hosted by SACE and CESA, and other implementation support that will be available
• ·         provide an opportunity to share and explore questions.
