Network Description

This network focuses on the development of models of effective school partnerships, with curriculum and pedagogical collaboration between CESA schools and schools in Asia.

Schools need to jointly develop a Partnership Plan between schools, outlining the aspect of the curriculum to be explored in common between the 2 classes.

Once the topic or concept is agreed to between teachers, it is time for students to develop what they want to show and discuss with their counterparts – via online collaborative classes which need to happen 2-3 times over one academic year. Students’ agency: they are the ones that develop the ideas and resources and facilitate the online class: read in Chinese and/or English, ask and answer questions, etc.

What Actually Happens

  • Schools will deliberately work on the preparation of online classes and class presentations that favour student voice, student agency, distributed leadership and common areas of the curriculum
  • Student surveys will be constructed and distributed, in order to gather evidence of how students achieve some of the capabilities outlined in the CESA Living Learning Leading Framework, the General Capabilities in the Australian Curriculum as well as Global Competence, as outlined in the OECD 2018 PISA
  • Participants will use the Intercultural Understanding Learning Continuum to check their students’ progress throughout their involvement

Focus on Intercultural Understanding and Global Competence

Mobility around the world increases the need for intercultural understanding and the development of respectful relationships between people in different geographical settings.

ICTs make these places easily accessible for social, cultural and economic partnerships. Our students will be involved in these partnerships in their futures. The Engage with Asia Network 2019 – 2021 will support our students develop the necessary capabilities to deal with and live in that world.
