CESA Parent/Caregivers Workshop and Discussion Forum
Perfectionism and the Gifted Child

Thriving as Gifted is the 2021 theme of Gifted Awareness Week Australia (22-30 May). Effectively supporting the social and emotional needs of our gifted children can truly help them flourish in their own wellbeing and achievements. Research indicates that gifted children can experiences high levels of perfectionism. Although for some gifted children perfectionism can be managed in healthy ways that lead to high levels of excellence, others significantly struggle with this issue. While this workshop is particularly relevant to the parents/caregivers of gifted children, all CESA parents are welcome.

This one hour interactive workshop facilitated by Dr Rebecca D. Napier, the CESA Gifted Education Advisor, will cover the following:

  • guiding definitions of perfectionism
  • common traits of perfectionism
  • challenges gifted children face with perfectionism
  • guiding principles and practical strategies for positively supporting gifted children with perfectionism
  • open question and answer time regarding all things gifted
