In 2021, the First Years of School Literacy Assessment (formerly named Early Years Assessment), will be in its fourth year as CESA’s early literacy data collection tool. This schedule of Literacy assessments occurs from Reception-Year 2. 

Half-day training for First Years of School Literacy Assessments (FYSLA) will be offered to Literacy leaders and teachers working in Reception-Year 2 settings (who have not already undertaken this training). Please note that all Reception-Year 2 teachers undertaking FYSLA are required to be familiar with relevant assessment practices.

The half-day training will provide opportunities to examine FYSLA assessment practices and procedures which will provide data about children’s learning in their first years of school.

For 2021, you will note a change from previous CEO-based training. This year, training for First Years of School Literacy Assessment (FYSLA) will be undertaken in situ by region.
