 SESSION DESCRIPTION

Due to the cancellation of the scheduled 2020 Moderation days, we are offering a collaborative clarifying session aimed at any teachers who wish to practise or refresh their assessment judgements using the Language and Literacy Levels.

NB This session is voluntary.

The EAL focus teacher in each of the schools intending to submit EAL data in 2020 will be contacted individually regarding mandatory moderation activities which will occur during Week 6.

AITSL NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS INCLUDE:

      6.3 Engage with colleagues and improve practice

INTENDED FOR:
EAL specialist teachers, classroom teachers and subject teachers who are involved in the levelling assessments of EAL student writing samples and the EAL data collection process in their school.

PROGRAM OUTLINE:

  • Provision of control text with 24 hours to assess and assign a level
  • Meet via Teams to clarify and discuss the judgements
  • Overview of the data collection process

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Registered Participants will be contacted 24 hours prior to the session and provided with:

  • An invitation to the Microsoft Teams video meeting
  • A control text and recording proforma for assessing before the session meeting
  • An electronic copy of the Language and Literacy Levels
