PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The P.E.A.C.E. Pack is in its fourth edition having been widely implemented and evaluated by teachers, students, principals, parents and school administrators from early childhood settings to secondary schools. P.E.A.C.E is an acronym for Preparation, Education, Action, Coping and Evaluation.

The project will be conducted over an 18 month period and will begin in Term 2, 2020 after NAPLAN, following a one day professional learning session for key staff in approximately Week 9 of Term 1, 2020.

The project will be guided by Flinders University Professors Phillip Slee and Grace Skrzpiec and Research Assistant John Lawson, together with Wellbeing Consultants from CESA.

CESA will provide a project grant of $2,000 to participating schools to release staff involved in the project. Feedback to Flinders University on the effectiveness of the P.E.A.C.E Pack in reducing bullying and promoting wellbeing will be gathered through interviews with some teachers, leaders and through student forums.

PROJECT STRUCTURE

School Leaders will:

• Commit to the day of professional learning in the P.E.A.C.E Pack – a program for reducing bullying in our schools, for themselves (or a leadership delegate) and key staff in approximately Week 9 Term 1, 2020
• Identify and support key staff as a project team in their school to undertake the inquiry which can focus on a single class, several classes or may involve all classroom teachers
• Release the project team as necessary to meet with the Flinders University staff and a Behaviour Education Consultant to track the progress of the intervention.

PROPOSED PROJECT OUTLINE

• Professional learning day on 27 March 2020, at Catholic Education Office, room 6, 9.00am - 4.00pm
• Online pre and post lesson questionnaires for students and teachers
• Implementation of 8 lessons in participating classes
• Feedback interviews with some schools
• Data collection and analysis, student focus groups and ongoing monitoring
