Making SPACE for Learning Inquiry 2020 - 2021

INQUIRY DESCRIPTION

This inquiry assists schools to understand the behavioural, social and learning complexities often associated with children who have experienced developmental trauma. It does this in two ways:

1. Through participation in two days of professional learning focusing on typical neurobiological development and in turn the effects of developmental trauma on this development.

2. By developing an action research inquiry focusing on children exhibiting trauma-consistent behaviour.

INQUIRY STRUCTURE

  • Two days of professional learning for the whole school in Week 0, Term 1 2020.
  • A Research Action Inquiry and Report.
  • A two hour meeting with a representative from the Australian Childhood Foundation and a Behaviour Education Consultant in Terms 1 - 3, 2020 and Term 1, 2021.
  • Participation in a mid-point Inquiry Sharing Day (Term 4, 2020).
  • Participation in an end-of-inquiry Showcase Day (Term 2, 2021).
