Workshop Information
In supporting the implementation of the CESA STEM Learning, schools are invited to register for participation in the STEM – Unpacking School Data to Inform Practices and Monitor Impacts professional learning opportunity. In partnership with Associate Professor Debra Panizzon.
(Science Education and STEM Policy Monash University - Adjunct), the series of workshops and mentoring sessions will be available in 2019.
Program Design and Context
Schools collect and generate their own data for a range of different purposes e.g., results from NAPLAN, PISA or from participation in various STEM-related projects. Accessing and utilising the data to inform teacher practices while monitoring student impact is pivotal in moving forward. The purpose of the workshops and academic mentoring is to work with leaders in schools to support and build their capacity to use data to inform and drive change in positive ways in their schools.
Facilitation of Primary and Secondary Workshops
- Working and supporting designated school leadership team representatives in:
-
- developing an inquiry question in relation to science, technology, engineering and mathematics to explore in their school
- planning for the collection of relevant and informative data to inform teacher practices while monitoring student impact
Academic Mentoring
Each participating school team will receive 2 hours of mentoring with Associate Professor Debra Panizzon which will be delivered through either face-to-face meetings or ongoing video or phone communication. This will be negotiated on a one-to-one school basis.
