 COURSE DESCRIPTION

To be considered for support from the CESA EAL Program in 2019, schools will need to submit data indicating the numbers of EAL students enrolled and their level of need, assessed using the Language and Literacy Levels. 
To ensure consistency across schools in the interpretation of levels and level decisions, schools must ensure that teachers assessing student texts have attended at least one of the following moderation days. Teachers are welcome to register for more than one day.

AITSL NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS INCLUDE:

INTENDED FOR:
EAL specialist teachers, classroom teachers and subject teachers who are involved in the leveling of EAL student writing samples and the EAL data collection process in their school.

PROGRAM OUTLINE:

  • Overview of the data collection process
  • Clarifying sessions - Levels
  • Individual leveling

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Participants need to bring:

  • their student work samples
  • printed or electronic copy of the Language and Literacy Levels
  • preferred recording and tracking proformas (a limited number will be available on the day)
  • in consideration of others, participants are reminded that during individual levelling time noise is to be kept to a minimum

Catering: morning tea and lunch will be  provided

Cost: no workshop fee
