The Leading Culturally Responsive Pedagogies Project is a research project that involves a partnership of CESA, Department for Education and UniSA. The purpose of this globally recognised research is to have teachers and leaders give voice to the life experiences of students that represent the cultural diversity that is very much part of today’s educational learning environments. Participants critically examined their curriculum requirements, identified any bias towards particular cultural groups and then redesigned their intended curriculum to be more inclusive and reciprocal. This fostered a greater sense of agency and pride in students from minority cultures and also increased teacher and student awareness and understanding of other cultures.
CESA participants were privileged to listen to the student stories that were shared and made possible in an environment where they felt safe and their voice was valued. The impact on the teachers extended beyond the initial curriculum content and design to examining other aspects of the curriculum and schooling and how they could modify them to be more culturally inclusive.
The presentations on the day will cover a range of learning areas across all levels of schooling. Each school will present their action research findings. A program will be forwarded once it becomes available. Registration Deadline: Friday 9 November 2018
