Teresa Hudson (MITIOG Consultant) will be presenting alongside guest Maree Crabbe (Director of Reality & Risk Pornography, young people and sexuality community project) to provide a CESA lens for interpreting Maree's presentation within the Religious Education context.

Workshop Details:

Over the past decade or so, pornography has become mainstream. For young people growing up in this era of ever-new and accessible technology it is almost impossible to avoid exposure to pornography.

Pornography is now the most prominent sexuality educator for many young people. But porn is a poor and problematic sexuality educator. Pornography’s influence is shaping sexual expectations and norms, with serious implications for young people’s capacity to develop a sexuality that honours each person’s inherent human dignity.

Young people need support to navigate a complex world so that they may develop respectful relationships. Yet many parents, carers, schools, support workers and others are unaware of the issues or feel ill equipped to respond.

This workshop will provide an overview of pornography’s influence on young people and how it can be addressed South Australian Catholic school setting.
