The National Education Council has previously determined that all Australian schools would transition to online NAPLAN testing by May 2019.

The experience of CESA schools in the first phase of preparation is that readiness activities need to begin at least a full year before the scheduled tests.

This forum will provide updated information and suggested timelines for Principals and NAPLAN online coordinators from all schools that will not be implementing NAPLAN online tests in May 2018.

The forum will include:

  • a summary of the current timelines for national and state implementation of NAPLAN online testing
  • location of resource materials designed to support schools in their preparations
  • school-based activities to determine technical readiness and strategies to address the findings
  • the role of a NAPLAN Online Coordinator in each school campus, as the key contact between the school and the CESA NAPLAN Online team
  • the ‘gateways’ that have been set nationally for schools preparing to participate in 2019 NAPLAN Online tests
    • schools will need to demonstrate they meet or exceed the minimum technical requirements specified by ACARA
    • schools will need to participate in a 2018 School Readiness Test (SRT) without significant technical and/or logistical issues– likely to be in term 3
  • training available to NAPLAN Online Coordinators prior to the 2018 SRT

    Schools should register the Principal and NAPLAN Online Coordinator(s) for as many campuses as exist. In larger schools, more than one NAPLAN Online Coordinator is recommended.
