The First Years of School Literacy Assessment Tool
Last Day to Register: Thursday 16 November 2017
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This new digital tool replaces the Early Years Assessment tool (Cebase) and provides users with significant efficiencies, saving time and maximizing opportunities for data analysis. A fewer number of assessment tasks are required to be administered over a child's 1st, 5th and 9th terms of school. Assessment tasks reflect a developmental progression from Reception through to Year 2.
The tool enables classroom teachers to enter data for each child thus encouraging them to administer the assessment tasks as part of core classroom practices.
The tool provides a graphic representation of each cohort of children for each task, enabling school-wide analysis and monitoring of each child's progress.
As student background data and class lists are populated by CESIS teachers need only enter each child's raw score.
The workshop will provide teachers and literacy leaders with opportunities to examine the tool and explore its potential to generate data to inform teaching design and school improvement planning.
