Contemporary Approaches to Literacy Education

Registration Close: Friday 4th August 2017

This six module online course explores fundamental issues in literacy by considering how theory meets practice in the classroom. The program is intended to provide participants with the basis for a more developed and informed consideration of various aspects of contemporary literacy teaching and learning. It encourages critical reflection and debate around questions such as:

  • What theories inform what I teach and how I teach?
  • What are the wider issues around literacy?
  • What kinds of literacies will my students need in these "new times"?
  • What does the Australian Curriculum state about teaching Literacy and English?
  • What do I need to consider when planning for contemporary literacy teaching and learning?

Course structure: This online course requires teachers, to post comments in response to online readings and video links.

Intended for: Primary and Secondary Teachers
