Course Facilitators:  Jonathan Lindsay-Tjapaltjarri Hermawan and Dr Roma Aloisi

Modelling authentic partnerships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples, in this course we will:

  • Interrogate discursive compositions of Australian Aboriginal peoples through socio-historical truth-telling.
  • Investigate representations of the so-called Aboriginal 'problem' in Australian policy contexts.
  • Position transforming leadership as critical to attending to 21st Century Australian Reconciliation agendas.
  • Examine constructions of cultural identities & associated impacts upon well-being and resilience; the role of educators as cultural and spiritual custodians; the development of culturally safe schooling environments and models of radical equity.
  • Propose restorative frameworks for reconciliation policy practice reforms.
  • Discuss CESA's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education vision and values for promoting supportive and culturally safe, respectful sensitive and responsive schooling contexts.
  • Examine and experience links between liturgy and ceremony.
