CESA Continuity & Transition Seminar

This seminar is a repeat of the seminar held in 2016 due to the interest from school leaders and the influence of the seminar in 2016.  The seminar is for CESA school leaders from Primary and Reception to Year 12 Schools.

The purpose of the seminar is to:

• explore more deeply the importance of transition to school for children and their families and connecting to the prior-to-school learning experiences
• consider transition and continuity of learning from the perspective of the contemporary mission of the Catholic Church
• consider how else we might engage with the child as active protagonist of his or her own learning, growth and development in the first years of school
• explore possibilities for continuity and innovative pathways for engaging parents in the transition to school processes
• consider how else we may support teachers working in the early years context

The context: school leaders and teachers are responding to challenges associated with:

• the new context of Same First Day & Two Intake into Reception Policy
• the decline of physical development, emotional development as validated by evidence from AEDC Data
• research & evidence about the importance of transition to school for children and families
• implementation of CESA Early Years Strategy
• call from Pope Francis - renew our relationships, structures and organisation to be with children and their families from birth
