This seminar is for CESA school leaders from Primary and Reception to Year 12 Schools.

The purpose of the seminar is to:

  • explore more deeply the importance of transition to school for children and their families and connecting to the prior-to-school learning experiences
  • consider transition & continuity of learning from the perspective of the contemporary mission of the Catholic Church
  • consider how else we might engage with the child as active protagonist of his or her own learning, growth and development in the first years of school
  • Explore possibilities for continuity and innovative pathways for engaging parents in the transition to school processes
  • Consider how else we may support teachers working in the early years context

The context: school leaders and teachers are responding to challenges associated with:

  • the new context of Same First Day & Two Intake into Reception Policy
  • the decline of physical development, emotional development as validated by evidence from AEDC Data
  • research & evidence about the importance of transition to school for children and families
  • implementation of CESA Early Years Strategy
  • call from Pope Francis - renew our relationships, structures and organisation to be with children & their families from birth
