WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This 1 day workshop will provide teachers with an introduction to computer programming in the primary years, with links to the Australian Curriculum Digital Technologies subject. Participants will:

  • Design computational algorithms
  • Develop their understanding of fundamental programming concepts such as sequencing, branching and iteration
  • Explore a variety of coding tools

WORKSHOP INFORMATION

No prior computer programming experience required.

A combination of iPad apps, PC software and unplugged activities will be available for participants to try.

AITSL NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS INCLUDE

Standard 2:   Know the content and how to teach it (2.6)
Standard 3:   Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning (3.4)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Primary Classroom teachers Years R-7

TRT funding is available for one teacher per school and will be reimbursed upon CEO receipt of school invoice.

TOTAL HOURS:  6 hours
